Plastic containers allow oxygen to seep into the container.  Oxygen initiates the oxidization of the product resulting in deterioration.  Metal or tin containers do not allow oxygen to enter the container, but after a few years, the product gets a "tinny" or metal taste to it.  Mylar bags are made with tinfoil encased in plastic.  The tinfoil keeps the oxygen from seeping into the product, and the plastic isolates the product from the tin and thereby keeps the product from acquiring a "tinny" taste.  A "super pail" is a six gallon plastic bucket with a mylar bag vacuumed packed around the product.  All products are not available in a "super pail", and must be purchased in the container offered.  The products listed below that are contained in a #10 tin can, are not available in a super pail, or a mylar bag at http://waltonfeed.com.  I have tested the products listed below that are contained in a #10 tin can and they have remained edible for greater than 10 years without acquiring a "tinny" taste.

The colder that a food product is kept, the more you extend the shelf life.  There are "best by this date" labels on many products.  These "best by dates" are exactly that.  The product will be its best between the time that you bought the product and that date.  It does not mean that the product becomes poisonous on the date following the "best by date".  Use your best judgment, directed by your five physical senses in determining whether to eat food that has exceeded the "best by date."  I am not necessarily recommending it, but I have eaten food that was many years past the "best by date," with the single apparent problem being that I gained weight.

I do not recommend that you store food in the outside heat, however, I have eaten canned food kept in the garage after ten years and I personally have had excellent results with the following products:

Hormel Foods SPAM, Hormel Foods Dinty Moore Beef Stew, Hormel Corned Beef, Armour Vienna Sausage, Chef Boyardee Beef Ravioli, Wolf Brand Chili No Beans, Honey Boy Premium Alaskan Pink Salmon, Planters Mixed Nuts in a tin can, almost every brand of sugar-cured fruit jam or preserve, Classico Spaghetti Sauce, Jif Peanut Butter and Jif Crunchy Peanut Butter in a plastic container (keep as cool as possible because of the oil), almost every kind of mustard in plastic containers (must be shaken to use), almost any kind of ketchup (color will darken but still be edible).  Most seasonings have a very long shelf life, and can greatly enhance a bland meal, especially if your of French descent.

I recommend purchasing the Honey Wheat Bread Mix, and the Honey White Bread Mix from http://waltonfeed.com, purchasing a cheap bread machine (approximately $50.00) and begin now making bread.  I do no use oil in any bread recipe, as oil is another product that must be procured, does not store well, and will be extremely hard to procure in the Great Tribulation.  It is not necessary that you substitute anything for the oil that you delete from the recipe on the container of Honey Wheat Bread Mix.  I purchased a "Zojirushi BBCCX20 Home Bakery Supreme Bread Machine from Amazon.com for $204.85, and found the quality of bread to be superior to the cheap bread machines.

If you have bread, peanut butter, and jelly, you have a meal.

Spaghetti stored in a mylar bag will last a longer time than we have.  If you couple it with Spaghetti sauce, and chunks of SPAM, you have a meal.

Any kind of dehydrated beans, with a little dehydrated onions, dehydrated garlic, salt, jalapeno pepper powder with chunks of SPAM is a meal.  You do not need any meat during the Seven Year Tribulation Period, beans are all the protein that you need.

I like to eat rolled oats much better when they are raw.  It is more like packaged breakfast cereal, and you do not have to cook them in order to eat them.  On cup of raw rolled oats, one cup of dehydrated instant milk, with one cup of dehydrated fruit placed on top is a meal.

White rice lasts longer than brown rice because of the greater amount of oil in brown rice.  White rice by itself, or mixed with many different food products is a meal.

An excellent selection of fruit canned in 24 oz glass jars is produced by Delmonte.  Delmonte does not offer internet purchases, but is readily available at many grocery stores.

Most of these products are available at Sam's Wholesale Club, or Costco.

Get creative, and get very comfortable using dehydrated products.  Do an internet search on google.com for information on food procurement, storage, or preparation.  I look forward to hearing how you fared when we attend the Wedding Supper of The Lamb.

Isaiah 25:6-9 (NIV) On this mountain the LORD Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine-- the best of meats and the finest of wines. 7 On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; 8 he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign LORD will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove the disgrace of his people from all the earth. The LORD has spoken. 9 In that day they will say, "Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the LORD, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation."
